The day was young, and the two friends, Leopardstar and Oakpelt, were going hunting on the hot Green-Leaf day. It was boring in camp, and there was nothing else to do. The leopard-like she-cat padded out of camp into the cool forest, where the canopy provided shade from the harsh sun. She lept onto a rock and sat down with her tail curled around her paws. She waited patiently for Oakpelt to follow.
As she waited, she thought about the best place to hunt. Tallpines rarely has prey, the snakes will be out in the sun at Snakerocks and The Great Sycamore, and the Owltree has no shade. So, we'll go to the Sunning Rocks. She thought Sunning Rocks would be best, because it usually carried a good breeze, they could wade in the smaller rivers in ThunderClan territory, and prey was always plentiful there. Perfect.

Oakpelt made his way through the camp’s entrance tunnel, trying not to leave any clumps of fur on the gorse. Getting “attacked” by thornbushes was one thing, but losing some of your own pelt on your way out of camp was another! The tabby tom paused for a heartbeat to arc his back in a great stretch that went all the way to the white tip of his tail. Ah, that felt good! He made his way up the ravine, easily finding pawholds among the stones. Had there really been a time when getting out of camp seemed as daunting as a journey to the Moonstone to him? Now, with muscles rippling under his short pelt, the medicine cat found that hard to believe!
Within what felt like a few heartbeats, he’d cleared the ravine—Oakpelt quickened his pace to a trot, reveling in the chance to stretch his legs a bit. Not like he minded his duties… But sometimes, even a medicine cat needed a rest. It wasn’t wise to scamper about like a kit all the time, of course, but it also wasn’t wise to work until you were asleep on your paws! Besides, today was a fine day, even if it was a hot one so far. Not for the first time, Oakpelt was grateful for his short, light-colored pelt. How could a thick-furred Clanmate bear the heat? But more than that, he was grateful for the trees that grew all around, shielding the cats of ThunderClan from the sun. Beneath their leafy heads, it was blessedly shady… He’d never understand how a WindClan cat, for example, could live without the forest. Presently, he saw Leopardstar sitting on a nearby rock—Oakpelt flicked his tail to her in friendly greeting, finally halting about half a tail-length from where his leader sat. “Where are we hunting?” he mewed, whiskers twitching.

“Where are we hunting?” Leopardstar's eyes focused back on reality. She was thinking about her parents up in StarClan as a large bird flew by. Her dad was named after an eagle, and that's what made her think of him. If only he could be here now. The wind blew a little, and she though she could almost smell his scent. It was just Oakpelt coming closer, though. She looked at him and gave a smile. "We will be hunting around Sunning Rocks. I don't think any RiverClan cats will try to sun there today." She thought about this for a moment. Maybe we could go near Fourtrees where there is a smaller river as well. It would cool us down and there are sure to be plenty of animals wanting a drink.
Leopardstar got up and leapt off the rock like a bouncing little kit, but landing on her paws, her tail flicking out for balance. "I was thinking going over by Fourtrees to the little ravine that branches off from RiverClan's river. It would still provide shade, and I nice place to cool down. Or we could just make our way down there."
(OOC: Hm, I just looked at the warriors officail website and it says Sunning Rocks is still RiverClan's territory.)
