Long ago, a Tribe of ancient cats journeyed to the top of the Whispering Hill. Bloodshed and violence had reigned over the land for as long as cats had memories, and the Tribe sought the wisdom of the war's victims to put an end to the violence. The victims, holding the power of the stars in their paws, granted to the leader of the Tribe nine lives. With his nine lives, this cat sought to bring an end to the wars. And the cats-of-the-stars gave him their great power, a Gift, that gave him the strength to lead his cats against the bloodthirsty bone-cats.
The Tribe defeated the bone-cats, and forced them out of the land. Only those with pure hearts, who had resisted the reign of the bone-cats, stayed, and committed themselves to the Tribe. They formed the first Clans. Six cats were chosen to guide these cats––Gale, River, Shade, Sand, Aspen, and Rye. The cats-of-the-stars bestowed upon these cats the names of Galestar, Spiritstar, Shadestar, Dunestar, Aspenstar, and Havenstar, and told them that their names would be passed down for generations as the names of their Clans. The cats-of-the-stars named themselves StarClan, and took cats from the new Clans to join the great leader of the Tribe in keeping the peace. These were named Tellers, and every one of them was given the nine lives of a leader and the wisdom of cats that lived before them.
Such was the beginning of the legacy.
