Warm rays of sunlight filtered through the tight woven nursery, warming spots on the ground and the white fur of a small kit. He was curled in a tight ball, embracing the warmth of green-leaf. What luxury it was to be a kit--to lay around, play and dream all day, and be the center of everyone's sympathy. He opens one of his green eyes, quickly blinking the pair as the harsh light gave off its unfamiliar glow. Rising to his paws, Halfkit yawned loudly. He stretches out his limbs, giving them a quick sense of relief before slowly moving into the clearing.
The camp was almost empty. Only a few warriors were about, most of them planning on patroling later in the day. But one thing seemed to catch his eye--a large blackbird, almost twice his size, proudly put as the cherry on top of the kill pile. It made his mouth water. He had to have it. He ran over, jumping excitedly for a moment, before stopping dead in his tracks. How could he get it down? He pondered over the question a moment.
I know!, his mind purred. He climbed the peices of prey, making sure he knew where to put his paws. Carefully, he made his way up, grasping at the prey with all his might. He felt like he was climbing Highstones! Soon, he reached the top, and he had just the right idea. He lept on top of the bird, let his teeth grasp the bird, and skid down the kill pile, wiping out halfway down the hill into a grusome roll. His white fur was covered in dust and dirt, and so was most of the kill pile, but he still walked away, dragging the large bird with all his kitten strength. A few cats looked at him in dismay, shocked glances working about, and a few harsh whispers. He had gotten all the prey dirty.

"-moonhigh." Miststar finished, looking at her deputy, who nodded. The higher ranks and a few senior warriors padded out of the leader's boulder. She glanced around the camp before taking a rabbit from the pile. It had been chased onto ShadowClan territory from a WindClan patrol- oh, that reminded Miststar, find a way to steal from WindClan without technically breaking the warrior code. Maybe chasing rabbits over to the marshes with long sticks, where warriors would catch them? That was actually not a bad idea...
Her focus turned to Halfkit, who had spotted a blackbird. Maybe she, the best cat in ShadowClan, would mentor be his mentor once he came of age. Yes, that would be a great idea... Unless an apprentice more worthy of such an excellent warrior. But wait... What was he doing? Jumping on the fresh-kill pile... And getting the prey all filthy. They weren't going to be able to eat that. Instantly, the silver tabby's eyes narrowed, and she stalked over to the fresh-kill pile, glaring at Halfkit.
She began to tear apart the fresh-kill pile, looking to see what was there, and if anything could be spared. Wait, which apprentice brought in a rat? I need to talk to their mentor... Oh look, that's clean! But wait... How in the name of StarClan did it get maggots in it? This kit... What was he thinking? Whipping around, the leader snapped at a young white warrior, "Well! Get together a patrol!" Slightly frightened, the ShadowClan warrior began speaking to a few other warriors rapidly, while Miststar looked at Halfkit firmly.
"What in the name of StarClan were you doing, little frog-brain?"

"Ive captured the flying beast!" he quietly cheered for himself after he had picked up the bird, setting it at his paws. A triumphant feeling burst in his little fluffy chest. His tail was high in the air, flicking with glee. He was so excited that he didn't even know that Miststar was watching him get dirt all over the clan's supply of food. All he wanted was to get the giant blackbird and feast on it, even though he may not even be able to open it's thick skin with his own fangs. It was tender and cold.
"What in the name of StarClan were you doing, little frog-brain?"
The little kit almost lept out of fur in surprise, his pride crashing into a million tiny pieces. He turned around, slowly moving his eyes up toward his leader's gaze. His ears pressed against his head tightly, his mind thinking of what to say, but no words replied to the leader. He was very frightened. He was usually causing trouble with warriors, but never had he been caught by the leader. Until now.
"I--I," he stammered, his mouth now very dry. He wished he could hop on the back of the black bird and take off. Maybe then he wouldn't feel so embaressed. His tail quit flicking and quickly drooped down, his pupils expanding with worry. He was nearly trembling. He had heard of stories of how Miststar could really flare a temper. He prayed he wouldn't get that much of an emotional beating. His tail slowly slid inbetween his legs with fright.

"You were destroying the fresh-kill pile, that's what! Your stupid blackbird now is the only fresh-kill left in camp! Well, you got it, you StarClan-forsaken kit, and now, you'll eat it! Ever heard the story of the kits and the owl? The kits ruined the last piece of prey in the camp, and then, an owl swooped down and took the prey instead of the kits! Thus, the Warrior Code, which, I will remind you, you broke, had the rule added that fresh-kill is only to be eaten. You'd better not play with that, or even be planning to, since otherwise, the Code will be broken again, by no fault but your own!
"I swear, if you weren't a kit, I would have you sleeping in the nursery and doing apprentice duties for moons! Maybe even exile you! But, unfortunately for me, you're a kit- a stupid, frog-brained, code-breaking kit, but a kit nonetheless- and therefore, your ignorance is the only thing keeping you in thus camp! I swear by StarClan, I will make sure you get a mentor who will make you hunt back the amount of fresh-kill you wasted today, or maybe you will be exiled for your StarClan forsaken acts! For the love of all our ancestors, you'd better go sit in a corner and think about what you've done! For breaking the Code when you are a kit- a kit- your birth must have clearly been a mistake, for StarClan wouldn't want a kit committing such crimes in their youth!"
To say Miststar was furious was an understatement. No way was she even going to think about mentoring the ShadowClan 'mossball champion'. She observed the twinkle of pride in his eyes fade as he realized his leader, of all cats, had caught him wrecking the fresh-kill pile, an act against the Warrior Code, and even though it was a minor rule broken, it was still a rule. It was a long, unneeded rant about the Warrior Code and how stupid Halfkit was, but it was still a rant that could be done. And secretly, Miststar loved ranting, no matter how ridiculous it is.

"Leave him alone it was an accident," Icekit meowed trying to sound brave, but it came out small. The shy kit usually stayed quiet, but she wasn't gonna let the grouchy leader be mean to someone she could make her friend. Even though the young kit was trembling with fear for speaking out her icy eyes were blazing. For a shy kit she had a fiery temper and she was close to losing it. She pawed at the ground she was tired of others getting yelled at for things they did accidentally, enough was enough. Besides if the leader wanted something to eat, she could dust the dirt off. Ready to show her she bounded past her and grabbed a piece of prey and dragged it out of the middle of the fresh kill pile causing a mouse to roll off the top of the fresh kill pile to roll off the fresh kill pile on top of her. She jumped startled and ran back to the nursery thinking she was being attacked. She slid into the nursery the frog falling off and she gazed down at it in surprise before dusting it off with her tail. Sniffing at it she dropped it in her nest and lay down.

Miststar's words seemed to give him an emotional choke. He backed up, his head hung and his body dropping into a low surrender. He had lost all hope, ruined his future, and for what? To get a peice of prey? He was going to eat a little, but he figured he could just bring it to the elders anyway. They'd praise him for his catch, right? His ears fell flat against his head, searching for words as the growling and screeching leader continued. But a small voice picked up after the silence.
"Leave him alone it was an accident,"
My savior! he blinked, turning to Icekit, who was guarding his shaking body. But he noticed something too--she was also in fear. He felt small again, his belly pressing to the ground. Could a kit really be thrown out for this? Maybe the leader was just rambling nonsense? There was no way to know. He wanted to growl right back at her, but he feared for his life up at this point. His savior had disappeared back into the nursery with some prey.

So, a couple of kits were ganging up on the clan leader. How amusing- not to mention stupid, and against the Warrior Code. How dare they- how dare they do that to a clan leader. Miststar couldn't help but admire the bold nature of Icekit- a ridiculous bold nature, but a bold nature nonetheless. Oh, but she would pay. She would pay in blood- wait, leaders aren't supposed to kill kits for standing up to a code-breaker.
"Icekit, you do not defy your clan leader, yet another act against the warrior code! By the power entrusted in my by StarClan, I declare that you will have apprenticeship delayed by one moon, so you may overcome your stupidity and fully learn the warrior code!
"Do not defy me again, Icekit, and come out here, or Halfkit will also be denied an apprentice ceremony for one moon! I demand you two, for your crimes against the warrior code, figure out how to reinforce the camp walls without leaving the actual camp, just to prove you actually have a mind! You stupid kits had better figure it out, or each of you gets two moons of no apprentice ceremonies!"
Wow. Miststar was really getting out of hand. Her warriors could tell, too... As the white warrior left camp, she sighed.

Icekit was so angry that she slammed her paws down onto her own tail. "Isn't it bad enough that I never met my parents without you making it worse!" she yowled after her leader and glared after her leader her eyes filled with anger lashing her tail around before sitting down and wrapping her tail over her paws. Hadn't someone told her that she needed to learn how to stand up for herself and her clan mates. Scowling she turned her back on the retreating form of her leader and curled up in her nest letting her tail cover her nose, but she was to angry to get to sleep. She let her eyes close listening to her clan mates move around. Remembering her frog she pulled it towards her and nibbled at it half heartedly. 'I would protect my friends with every thing I got, maybe the leader should calm herself,' she thought letting her mind wander.

Shadowstalker padded out of the warriors den, still tired from the night before. Miststar had woken her up. Again. She shook out her pelt, ridding the bits of moss that still clung to her fur and yawned. The dark warrior had listened to everything. The insulting, threatening, and the kit's attempt to stand up for herself. That kit has a lot of guts to stand up to our leader.
Padding over to Miststar calmly, she spoke in a strong, but thoughful tone, "Miststar, may I go talk to Icekit? I think she might calm down if she has someone to talk to." She looked curiously at her leader, eager for her to respond.

He walked into the Shadowclan camp, two frogs and one toad gripped in his mouth. Silverfang noticed Icekit and Miststar, both whom seemed to be in an argument together.
Silverfang noticed, also, that there were now two piles. One large pile with some rotting animals, and one smaller pile with a few clean ones. Deciding that was right, he set the animals he caught in the smaller pile. A bit awkwardly, at that. He eyed Miststar, wondering if she would snap at him but she seemed much too focused on the kits.
Glancing around the camp, he spotted Shadowstalker. Slowly he inched over to him. "Hey, Shadowstalker - do you have any idea what's going on?" He whispered as quietly as he could.

(OOC: Well, um, Shadowstalker is a she-cat. *akward*)
Shadowstalker's eyes bore into Miststar's. She became unfocused when she heard Silverfang wisper to her, "Hey, Shadowstalker - do you have any idea what's going on?" Her tail flew up into his face to tell him to wait. Her tail was quite fluffy, and shedded a lot and would probably get into his mouth. She didn't have time to do think about that though. Her ears also flicked as another warning signal that she didn't want him to interfear, and almost saying, 'I'll tell youonce I'm done here.'

}OOC: Omigawsh, I'm so sorry DX I need to pay more attention{ He leaned back, coughing silently. Bits of her fur on his tongue and some on his teeth.
Silverfang made a strange face as he tried to get out the dark fur, wiping his tongue against his own short fur to get it off. But he stayed quiet, Shadowstalker seemed to be warning him to shut his yap anyway. He waited patiently, curiously.
